Anything Knitted and Crocheted

Welcome to my blog. I hope to blog about my knitting and crocheting as well as everyday life. The patterns that I post are original and as such there is copyright on them. When they are based on another pattern there is a link to the pattern.

My husband and I adopted a beautiful dog named Leo. He is a dachshund and absolutely adorable! we adopted him on June 23, 2010 and he has become the love of our lives.

I love to share patterns that I find along the way or to talk about some of the neatest designers that are out there today, so I love to post links to the designs or the designers.

So grab a cup a and sit and enjoy the blog.

Please don't Forget April is #DaffodilMonth in support for the fight against ALL cancers.

Since this is a crafty blog, I thought I would post some patterns so you can make your own daffodils to wear through April, or really anytime. Some will be free and some will be available in books or on-line.

So here we go :)

I love this one it is so simple yet beautiful!

This is just simply called Knitted Daffodil. The pattern is very simple and easy even for a beginner :D The white narcissus is knit exactly the same as the daffodil, just changing the colors.

Daffodil Flower Fairy by Lorna Pearman
Love the back story on this :)
According to Cicely Mary Barker, when a seed sprouts, a Flower Fairy baby is born, living in their chosen flower. As the flower grows, the fairy grows too, and is in charge of looking after their flower or plant, keeping it strong and healthy by making sure it has plenty of sunshine and water, sweeping away dead leaves, and polishing flowers and stems.
Here is the set....

What a cool idea...again on Facebook :)

Awesome Gutter Garden Idea!

Awesome Gutter Garden Idea 2
Awesome Gutter Garden Idea 1

Apparently these are different types of lettuce that have been planted in old gutters and attached to a wall or fence. So neat and animals can't get to them! Poster bought some gutters this weekend to hang on the fence above my new expanded bed! This is also fabulous for people who don't have much space to garden! Perfect for herbs too!

Here are some other great ideas as well.

This uses a Pallet set vertically,

Growing edibles in a narrow space like a micro garden on a balcony can be challenging. This project is a great solution for urban unit dwellers who only have limited space.

Fern from Life on the Balcony converted a pallet into an edible micro garden. A clever example of a stackable vertical garden for a narrow space. Click the photo to find out how to make your own.

Can't find a pallet? There is a great site for instructions here: http://laurmelashouse.blogspot.ca/2012/03/pallets-up.html

I love this Urban Box for small spaces! There is a deep box for larger vegetables to dig their roots deep, then smaller boxes for greens, and a top box with a trellis for climbing beans and tomatoes. Great for porches and balconies.

Another neat idea, also from Facebook....

Garden  made from Pallets

  • Got Pallets?
  • Hate weeding?
  • Don't feel like turning up a bunch of grass?
  • Use a pallet as a garden bed - staple garden cloth on the backside of the pallet fill with dirt and start growing!
  • You can also place your pallet on the ground in a rocky location rather than a grassy area, this way you will not need the garden cloth to stop the weeds and grass coming through.
  • Should make it easier to stop cats and dogs from digging in the garden as well as the garden being used as a litter box.
This is cool was just talking to hubby about gardening. I love gardens but with my health deteriorating like it has I have had no energy to have to weed or turning the soil. This is an awesome idea!

Saw this on Facebook...Brick Pond

What was used were:
  • Outdoor BBQ bricks or you could use an old fire pit as well.
  • Plastic liner or pond liner or a kit.

Home depot has one that is really nice:

Concrete Fire pit ($174.99 CAD
Home Depot has some great kits that would work and they go anywhere from $89.99 to 199.99 CAD. I think it would be best to get the kit with the pumps due to mosquitoes loving stagnate water. These are available online. The Fir pit is in store only.

Pond Kit With Solar Light - 270 Gallon $139.99 CAD

Pond Kit-84 Gallon $89.99 CAD

10' X 10' Black 45 mil EPDM Pond Liner $89.99 CAD

  • Folded the plastic over the second level of bricks.
  • Put the top layer on this holds the plastic in place.
  • Trim the edges.
  • Put a few small bricks in the pond to add height for my plants as well as giving the fish a hiding place from birds (like a little brick bridge).
  • The original poster.hasn't had issues with leaks and its made it through ice and snow:)

I hope you will give this a try, I would like to at some point. No fish though as we have cats as well as birds to contend with :)

War On Women in Canada.

Tory backbencher wins bid for abortion-related debate in House of Commons

Tory MP Stephen Woodworth (photo courtesy: The National Post)
From the National Post: March 13, 2012
If parliamentarians agree to Woodworth’s request, a special committee would review Section 223 of the Criminal Code, which says a child becomes “a human being . . . when it has completely proceeded, in a living state, from the body of its mother.”

That section of the Criminal Code says a homicide on a child happens when someone “causes injury to a child before or during its birth as a result of which the child dies after becoming a human being.”
Woodworth said his proposal will be wrapped up in the emotions that surround the abortion debate, but he doesn’t intend to back down even though his own party has said the government has no interest in reopening the abortion debate.
i would like to start the same movement her in Canada as the US, lets send a message to Harper that we won't back down!

Let's send out a uteri to both Woodworth and Harper.  would love them to be uteri with fetuses in them.with amessage along the lines of "Here is your own uterus and fetus keep your hands off of mine,.

The anticraft site has the Snatchel and Fetus Coin Purse, both are knit.

Is crochet more like it for you? Here are 2 patterns I recommend:  Uterus Menstrual Cup Cozy and Fetus in a Jar.

So lets get cracking and show those conservatives to stay out of uteri :D
