I found some adorable patterns for my favorite dog, all due to having Leo...lol. So here are some for my favorites, some are free and some are available for purchase. They could be knitted or crocheted...so here we go!
This one is from Planet June (aka June Gilbank). June has many wonderful patterns available including an incredible series called AmiDogs. The dogs are very realistic. You can get the pattern individually ($5.00) or as part of series called
AmiDogs Set 1 amigurumi crochet patterns included in this set are Shiba Inu, Labrador, Dachshund patterns.
2. Dachshund Amigurumi Crochet Pattern
This is a new pattern published in December of 2010. It is a very simple pattern design but still shows the distinctive design of a dachshund. The designer Lisa Hintzer has made the pattern available for free.
Available for sale on both
Etsy ($2.00) and *
Ravelry ($3.00).
Lisa Millan of DigKnitty fame has this cute dachshund pattern for sale for $2.00. It is to cute!
Available for free on Crochetville. It is a really cute pattern. There are some other example of him on Crochetville as well.
This is a knit pattern by Rebecca Danger. It is available on both
Etsy and *
Ravelry. The pattern is available for $6.00 on both sites.
Meet Tofu the Gentle Dachshund! This new knitting pattern from Danger Crafts will show you how to knit Tofu, the cutie pie Doxie. Tofu is a fast, super satisfying project that knits up easily on many yarn/needle combinations. Since it doesn't take much yarn to knit a Tofu, this is a great stash busting project for all those times you've bought just 1 or 2 balls because something was pretty. Just like Dachshunds themselves, this pattern is very addicting and once you knit one Tofu, you will find you want to knit an entire Dachshund family!
This is another one of Alan Dart's designs. As you know I love Alan's designs as he has great detail with them all. Well I had to get this one and I was able to get a yarn kit from Knitting, Beads and Other Things. Carol even customized the colors to match Leo! What awesome customer service. It can be quite difficult to get the yarn for Alan's designs so it is good to know I can order from her when I need to. this pattern was original published by Sirdar, the leaflet is no longer in print however you can get the pattern from Alan on his website. The pattern has been sold on eBay at some pretty outrageous prices.
8. Werner the Weiner Dog
Werner is available only in the Amigurumi Super Happy Crochet Cute
, at
Amazon and
Chapters. Check it out. Her designs are awesome!
To cute! From the website...he is $4.50. He actually crocheted from Bernat Softee Chunky.
You will get Chico
the Dachshund pattern to make your very own Dachshund. For Dachshund lovers, this is the purrfect collectible. He stands three inches tall and six inches from nose to tail.
Even though they are classified as a Hound, Dachshunds are most like a terrier. It is said that they are half a dog high and two dogs long. They were originally bred for scenting, chasing, and flushing badgers. They love to chase and fetch. Dachshunds can be challenging to train as they are stubborn or strong-willed, so a patient gentle hand is required. They make excellent watchdogs as their bark is quite loud. They love to dig and to chase small birds, animals and tennis balls with great perseverance. Dachshund's temperament is individual from dog to dog, this means that they may not be good with children and could bite an unknown child.
10:
Dachshund Portrait Cloth
This available only on
Ravelry as a free download. it is really cute. These could be used to make a blanket or an afghan.
I am planning on using this along with Lisa Millan's Dachshund cloth to make a lapghan or a cuddly blanket for Leo as he loves them.
11: Amigurumi Wiener Dog and Dachshund Balloon Animal from Lion Brand Yarns
Lion Brand Yarns has 2 free Patterns available. One is crocheted,
Amigurumi Wiener Dog the other is knit and quite cute, called
Dachshund Balloon Animal. Both are quite cute and simple.
The dachshund balloon animal is an easy knit but frustrating to tie, so I am going to rework the design to make it simpler to tie together. Wish me luck on it.
12. Dashing Dachshund
This is another cloth/block pattern. It is quite cute and the designer, Aunt Kathy has clear directions and charts that she uses.
13. Knitted Dachshund
This listing is for the Dachshund knitting pattern. It is a fairly easy pattern using stocking stitch and increasing and decreasing. As soon as I have received payment of $5.00, your pattern will be emailed to you within 24 hours.
There are so many other cute items as well. These are available only on Ravelry either free or for sale.

The Original Custom-Fit Dog Sweater is well worth a mention. If you have difficulties finding a dog sweater that fits your dog in all areas this pattern is a big help.
This pattern is the result of a several years' search for a well-fitting sweater for our 68-pound short-haired Australian shepherd/beagle mix. I ran into two major difficulties with the dog sweater patterns I was able to find: either the pattern was sized only for small dogs, or if it did come in sizes for larger dogs, the neck and chest measurements (the two usual measurements one is asked to take) didn't match our dog's. If I made it to fit her chest, the neck was droopy, and the dog's movement would pull it down around her shoulders. Additionally, none of the patterns I found provided what I felt was sufficient protection for our dog against the snow and wind of a Central New York winter. So, I decided to make my own pattern and developed the following sweater to be worn by our "snow puppy" in those harsh conditions.
All comments are welcome! Please let me about your success or problems in using this pattern, which was revised about 6 months after its initial publication because of good feedback from the net. Please include your dog's breed and neck & chest measurements as this will help determine how robust the pattern really is. I can be reached via email at ebozak@cs.oswego.edu or by snailmail at 103 E. Sixth St., Oswego, NY 13126.
*Anything sold on Ravelry not only helps the designer but helps to keep Ravelry going. Ravelry is a free community for Fibre Artists however they get a portion of the proceeds from all sales done through the Ravelry shops.
I really enjoyed putting this post together, hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
